For over 50 years Alton Scavo and Duke Kassolis have worked together in the commercial real estate space. Until its sale in 2004 Al and Duke worked together at The Rouse Company (NYSE: RSE) ultimately each holding the position of Executive Vice-President and 2 of the 5-person Executive Committee responsible for running the company. Al and Duke were responsible for the two major divisions of the company. Al ran the Community Development Division which held in its portfolio arguably the largest and most complex large scale community development projects in the United States. Duke ran the Operating Properties Division which included 50 million square feet of retail space and 12 million square feet of office space located in 22 States and Canada.

Wanting to continue to work together after the sale, Al and Duke began developing land, retail and multi-family projects in Texas and Florida, with the principle goal of long term benefit of their respective family entities. Today, the portfolio includes land, retail and multi-family projects in Florida. While the goal is to own Class A properties as opportunities are available, a particular focus is to develop and own retail real estate which supports the long-term goals of operating retail service franchises for Tide Cleaners, Tide Laundromats and Three60Wine Holdings, all of which Al and Duke’s families are major shareholders.
